“We have something you really need to see. And touch.”: iPad 3

Apple Sends Out Invite for March 7 Event

Apple, which has promised to introduce products this year that will “blow your mind,” sent out an invitation to media this morning to a March 7 event in San Francisco.

The invite reads: “We have something you really need to see. And touch.” See below.

The speculation is that Apple is readying a new version of its top-selling iPad, and the invite suggests the touchscreen-based tablet is at the heart of the announcement. Apple CEO Tim Cook, who told investors at the company’s shareholders meeting last week to expect mind-blowing products this year, will likely emcee the event at Yerba Buena Gardens — the same stage where former Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the iPad in 2010 and its successor, the iPad 2, in March 2011.

There are rumors that Apple will launch iPad 3 with new features and OSX Mountain Lion in this event.

Update:
A developer who's previously provided reliable information with respect to things Apple and otherwise, tells us the next iPad uses the HD moniker instead of going with "iPad 3."
